GMA Network is set again for pioneering another genre in the world of Philippine TV series! This time, they were giving us a sports-themed TV series, 'Bolera' which is focusing on today's one of the top favorite Filipino game billiards. The series also brings back on Primetime TV three of the leading Kapuso stars namely Jak Roberto, Rayver Cruz, and Kylie Padilla!
The series marks the comeback of Kylie on Primetime after the success of 'TODA One I Love' in 2019 pairing her to Ruru Madrid and David Licauco. Kylie is also set to make another remarkable role this time as a billiard player Joni in the series. We may also recall that Kylie already made an iconic character as Amihan in the 2016 fantasy series remake 'Encantadia.'
'Bolera' is also a Primetime comeback of Jak after their fantasy drama series 'Cara Mia' in 2019 with real-life girl friend Barbie Forteza. The series also pairs Jak and Kylie for the very first time. According to them, their relationship is "from strangers (in real life) to bestfriends (in the series)."
Meanwhile for Rayver, though we already watched him hosting 'The Clash,' a singing-reality competition on Primetime every weekends, we can say that 'Bolera' is his very first Primetime teleserye on GMA after his transfer from the Kapamilya network. In the series, Rayver is playing the character of the famous billiards player Miguel El Salvador.
During our virtual mediacon for the series, Kylie and Jak revealed why they were chosen to play their respective roles in the series. Kylie admitted that she's a fan of the Netflix series 'The Queen's Gambit,' which was why when she got offered the lead role of Joni for the upcoming sports-related project, without hesitation, she said, "yes, yes, yes!" On the other hand, Jak shared that his role as Joni's bestfriend is a tailored-fit character for him! He recalled the time when he was called by the writers of GMA network and offer the said role. When he read the script and saw the different emotions he will portray, he immediately accepted the offer without any hesitations!

Aside from the veteran actors, former child star David Remo joins the cast members as Kylie's younger brother. David shared his funny moments with Kylie when they were rehearsing their characters as siblings. During our blogcon, Kylie and David both laughed recalling those fun times on the set filming the series.
