Mark Gil Died at 52!


Veteran actor Mark Gil passed away at the age of 52! This was the sad news that shocked the showbiz world. The actor died at 8am of Monday, September 1, 2014. The actor would have celebrated his 53rd birthday on September 25.    

The family of the actor confirmed via statement that the cause of his death was due to liver cancer. According to reports, Mark was diagnosed with liver cancer two years ago, but that the actor himself had requested that the information not be made public. Based on the family's statement, they learned that it was terminal in June 2014.

Better known as a villain in showbiz since majority of his roles in movies and television were kontrabida, Mark rose to fame in the movie "Batch 81" directed by Mike de Leon, where he played a neophyte initiated in a fraternity. His other movies early in his career include “Underage,” “Indio,” “Miss X” and "Palabra de Honor."  

Mark also dominated the TV series world as he appeared in the different teleseryes like "Guns and Roses,” “100 Days to Heaven,” “Walang Hanggan,” “Imortal,” and “Magkaribal.” Mark's last TV series  project with ABS-CBN was the primetime series “The Legal Wife” where he played a father role to Maja Salvador and Angel Locsin. 

Born as Raphael John de Mesa Eigenmann, Mark is the son of showbiz veterans Eddie Mesa  and Rosemarie Marie. He is the brother of actors Michael De Mesa and Cherie Gil and the father of  Gabby Eigenmann, Maxine Eigenmann, Sid Lucero and Andi Eigenmann. He is also the former partner of veteran actress Jaclyn Jose and Bing Pimentel
