It's Official: Liza Soberano is the New Darna!

Star Cinema, the film arm of ABS-CBN finally announced on Tuesday night, May 30, 2017 that the young star Liza Soberano will wear the red and gold attire of the famous Pinay superhero, Darna in their upcoming movie!

Since Liza is 19 years old, many say that this new Darna movie will be of a younger tad version (preferably of the like of Supergirl). Marian Rivera who was last to portray the iconic character in 2009 in GMA TV series was 24 years old.

Liza rose to fame after playing the lead character of Agnes in the 2014 hit Primetime series "Forevermore" pairing her to Gil Enrique. After the said TV series, Liza is now a famous name leading in another TV series "Dolce Amore"  in 2015. And just this February, Liza and Enrique or LizQuen topbilled the Valentine's movie offering "My Ex and Whys."

As per Liza, this new Darna  movie will be the biggest break in her career. She started entering the showbiz world in 2013 playing supporting roles and third party to KathNiel in the movies and TV series like "Must Be Love" and "Got to Believe." She was also a supporting character in the 2013 Bea Alonzo-Dingdong Dantes movie "She's the One."

Congratulations Liza! You will now lining up to the roster of actresses who portrayed Darna namely Vilma Santos, Nanette Medved, Anjanette Agbayani, Rio Locsin, Lorna Tolentino, Gina Pareño, Marian Rivera, and Angel Locsin.
