The Last Night for 'Zorro'

Tomorrow will be the last battle of the Philippine version of "Zorro"!

Well giving you a bit trivia, the "Zorro" TV series was originally came from Mexico. If you could still remember, there was a Mexiconovela which was aired on ABS-CBN 2 on their hapontastic block way back 2005 or 2006. But before that year, in 1998 all us made popular with the movie "Mask of Zorro" which was played by Antonio Banderas. This was themed by the hit song "I want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You" by Tina Arena and Mark Anthony.

But actually, there was also a cartoon series of "Zorro" which was also aired on ABS-CBN 2 on the year 1997 (I was a first year high school then!). Yup, it was a tagalized cartoon series every late afternoon aired together with "Three Musketeers", "Blue Blink", and "BTX". And on that cartoon series, the name of Zorro is Diego! I just wonder now in Richard Gutierrez' version, Zorro's name is Antonio and not Diego. Hmmm...maybe this was inspired by the Zorro version of Antonio Banderas!

But now the question goes, did they made a better version of Zorro in the Philippine TV? Hmmm...TV Ratings will tell!

Well in terms of costume and profs, it was good! The location is also suited blended with the ways Mexican or Latin people act. The stars specially the lead actor Richard Gutierrez really made a good act knowing that Richard is a good actor in terms of action and fighting scenes! The story...well it seems that it was strengthen adding other more irrelevant stuffs. Maybe this was some of the reasons why it was always defeated by its rival soap, "May Bukas Pa" leading to the early termination of the series. Or maybe viewers didn't like the old style settings of the show.

But then if you're an avid viewer of this TV series, catch now its final episode on GMA-7's Telebabad!

"Zorro" will be the last action TV series of Richard Gutierrez since he will be star in the upcoming Koreanovela revival of GMA 7's "Full House"!
