JM De Guzman and Meg Imperial team up for the first time in the special Valentine’s Day episode of “Ipaglaban Mo” airing this Saturday (Feb 14).

On the set, Meg admitted that she was still a bit uncomfortable doing scenes with JM even if they already met before.

“This is our first time to do ‘kilig’ scenes together so I am still adjusting, in a way. We even did scenes where I couldn't look at him straight in the eye but after a couple more takes, things got better,” shared Meg.

When asked if they are willing to become an official love team, both said they are open to the idea. JM shortly quipped, “Why not?”

Despite being romantically linked recently, JM and Meg revealed that they don’t have plans to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day.

“I might just stay at home or maybe work. I’m not sure of my schedule yet,” said Meg.

“I'm hoping that Valentine’s has a plan for me,” playfully answered JM.

Their on-screen chemistry will be put to test this weekend as they play Trish and Eman, lovers who will face the biggest challenge in their relationship.

Trish is a simple girl with a simple dream of marrying a rich, handsome man someday. To realize her dream she would log in online and chat for long hours with various men on the web, pretending to be someone she is not.

One day, she meets Eman on a social media site and the two eventually fall in love. Eman asks Trish’s hand in marriage and the latter immediately says yes. But when they apply for a certificate of no marriage record, the two learn that Trish is already married to another man.

How will Trish win Eman’s trust back? Will Eman believe that Trish is a victim of identity theft? Will they still have their happily ever after?

Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos showed her full support for ABS-CBN’s film restoration project after she graced the special “V x 3” screening held at the University of the Philippines Film Institute (UPFI) Cine Adarna recently, wherein three of her most remarkable and award-winning films were showcased for the first time in high definition format.

The event, organized by ABS-CBN Film Archives in partnership with UPFI, screened the digitally restored and re-mastered copies of “Anak,” “Kapag Langit ang Humatol,” and “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?”

“It’s a such an overwhelming feeling to again watch films that you are truly proud that were made even better now that it’s in HD format. ABS-CBN is giving viewers, especially the younger generation, this great opportunity to witness these restored titles, which I believe truly mirrors the lives of Filipinos,” said Gov. Vi.

Aside from Gov. Vi, original directors of the said films Rory Quintos, Laurice Guillen, and Chito Rono also graced the special screening together with “Bata, Bata” leading man Albert Martinez and co-star Cherrie Pie Picache, director Olivia Lamasan, and Star Creatives head Malou Santos.

The solid Vilmanians also weren’t left behind as they flocked to the Cine Adarna and lined up as early as morning just to show their support for their idol.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Film Archives head and the brain behind the restoration project, Leo Katigbak, felt very overwhelmed by the very warm reception given by Gov. Vi and even by the general public.
“It feels great to hear the thunderous applause from the audience. Just like a blockbuster hit complete with screaming fans. But it’s more rewarding when the audience shares their thoughts and opinions on the restored films. This shows they are already invested in what we are doing and this response has been recurring more with our recent screenings. We are touching their hearts and minds little by little,” Leo explained. (www.tvseriescraze.com)

Every now and then a single creation arrives, suddenly and with seismic force, to tap an unexpected vein of shared curiosity and intrigue, coming to span cultures in its popularity and becoming universally known by its name alone. Such is the phenomenon “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Since the first episodes of E L James’ story were modestly released through an online-based publishing house in 2011, her “Fifty Shades” trilogy has grown into one of the biggest and fastest-selling book series ever, with more than 100 million copies in 52 languages consumed all over the world. The four words of its title have come to represent, to readers and nonreaders alike, a bold new emblem of mainstream sensuality.

Now the film adaptation that has been the subject of widespread speculation and boundless curiosity, whose first trailer became YouTube’s most-watched movie trailer last year, comes to the big screen as a motion-picture event for Valentine’s Day.

Stepping into the iconic roles of billionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey and curious college student Anastasia Steele are Jamie Dornan (TV’s “The Fall,” “Once Upon a Time”) and Dakota Johnson (“The Social Network,” “21 Jump Street”).

In a story that is as much about the redemption of the unattainable Christian as it is the liberation of the inexperienced Ana, the protagonists have taken on lives of their own for readers who’ve pored over the vulnerabilities of the characters and intricacies of the novels. Through them, audiences have allowed themselves to explore their own inner fantasies and aspirations.

Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (“Nowhere Boy”), this erotic and authentic love story from series creator E L James takes us deep inside a rich and mysterious world that explores frankly the complexities of male-female dynamics, and the limits to which we will allow ourselves to go—and to be taken.

Taylor-Johnson explains, “The fundamental reason why I wanted to make this movie is that it feels like a fairy tale with similar plotlines to things that we grew up with, although in a very adult version: A young girl meets her prince. He’s unavailable. He’s successful, fabulous, rich, but it twists and unfolds and becomes something very different. It’s also the story of this girl on a sexual exploration, a coming-of-age journey.

“In many respects, Christian and Ana’s story is a love story of the most straightforward kind,” she continues. “It’s about two people falling in love and negotiating what they will and won’t do for each other, what they will and won’t give up and what journey they will go on. Within this there are more extremities than a lot of relationships. Ana falls in love with a complicated person for a first romance and a first journey of sexual exploration. For Christian, it’s also what opens him up to start feeling, breathing and learning to love.”

Taylor-Johnson acknowledges that her approach to the material was “to treat this as an extraordinary love story and an extremely unusual and unique one. Going into it, you’re trying to finesse and find delicate, subtle moments where the two of them are starting to shift and change. That is something that has to be so finely tuned throughout the movie to keep everything in line with the journey they go on.”

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 11, “Fifty Shades of Grey” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures. The film has been classified Rated R-18 (Strictly for Adults) by the MTRCB.

DISCLAIMER AND NOTICE:

This movie was classified as is and in its entirety with noticeable BLURS and SCREEN BLOCKS introduced by the film producer prior to its submission for review.

The public is advised of scenes of nudity, strong and/or sexual language, and sexual aberrational behavior with elements of bondage, dominance, sadism and masochism. (www.tvseriescraze.com)

Filipinos can now experience the newest and biggest innovation that will transform their TV viewing experience as ABS-CBN launches ABS-CBN TVplus, which promises clear picture and sound and will offer free exclusive channels on top of all the free-to-air channels available via digital transmission.

ABS-CBN TVplus, a digital box more popularly known as the ‘mahiwagang black box,’ brings dramatically clear picture and sound that is comparable to seeing a movie on DVD, a far cry from the prevailing analog system.

“Digital terrestrial television (DTT) is a major investment for ABS-CBN, but it is actually investing in our fellow Filipinos. We believe that the inspiration and the information that DTT will beam into our homes will help open new windows of opportunity for every Filipino family,” said ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III.

The ceremonial switch-on that marked the start of the digital television age in the country happened last night (February 11) at the ABS-CBN Center Road led by Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, and ABS-CBN head of access Carlo Katigbak.

“The ‘mahiwagang black box’ has long been ABS-CBN’s dream for our fellow Filipinos who don’t get to watch crystal clear TV. Now, everything will change for them,” Concio said.

“ABS-CBN is the pioneer of the newest innovation in television. As we mark a new milestone in the history of TV, we want to thank every Kapamilya who has contributed to the transformation of digital TV from a dream to a reality,” said Katigbak.

ABS-CBN TVplus offers a more enjoyable TV watching experience for the whole family. On top of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Sports+Action, viewers will be able to access four more exclusive free-to-air channels upon purchase of a ‘mahiwagang black box’ to be connected to a television set.

These include CineMo, the first-ever all-day movie channel on free digital TV that airs a wide variety of action, comedy, and blockbuster movies of favorite Pinoy idols.

Kids can tune in to Yey!, an all-day children’s entertainment channel that features a mix of wholesome action, fun, adventure, and edutainment programs for boys and girls.

Knowledge Channel, meanwhile, is the only TV channel with curriculum-based programs and content for primary and secondary students.

ABS-CBN TVplus also offers DZMM TeleRadyo, which airs the live TV broadcast of all-day news, information, commentary, and public service programs from the leading AM radio station DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta.

“Our channels cater to all members of the family – young and old, male or female. Those who are not able to afford cable TV are offered more choices so they can enjoy watching TV and increase their bonding time with the whole family,” said March Ventosa, ABS-CBN head of narrowcast and DTT channels.

“We have closed deals with some of the country’s biggest film companies to build a film library of Pinoy idols such as Fernando Poe Jr., Dolphy, Robin Padilla, other Asian action films, and English movies for our Filipino viewers. We’ve also acquired children’s entertainment programs from Nickelodeon and other studios,” said Leng Raymundo, head of ABS-CBN Program Acquisitions and International Sales Distribution, which is in-charge of acquiring content for the channels.

ABS-CBN TVplus is offered at an affordable one-time payment price of P2,500 only, with no monthly or installation fee. For a limited time, each box comes with an ABS-CBNmobile prepaid SIM card with P50 load that can be used to call, text, surf the Internet, or watch Kapamilya programs through the iWantv! app.

The ‘mahiwagang black box,’ has been developed to work with all kinds of TV sets, even older ones, to get crystal clear signal.

It will be available initially at the ABS-CBN Store, ABS-CBNmobile Store, SM Appliance Centers, 2Go Express, Solid Service Center (Sony Authorized Service Channel), Villman, Silicon Valley and other electronic, appliance and hardware stores.  Authorized ABS-CBN TVplus sales agents will also be selling house-to-house. Consumers may also purchase it online by visiting www.abs-cbnstore.com, or calling (632) 488-8888 and 1800-10-4888888 (outside Metro Manila), or sending a text message to 23661.  The box will be delivered via LBC and 2G0, free of charge within the area of digital coverage.

According to ABS-CBN DTT head Chinky Alcedo, ABS-CBN TVplus will be available where digital signal transmission is currently available, such as Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Benguet, and Metro Cebu.

“ABS-CBN TVplus will soon be widely available in more areas as we aim to bring more digitally clear signal and a more enjoyable TV viewing experience for all Filipinos nationwide,” she said.

The term ‘mahiwagang black box’ was coined and popularized by broadcast journalist Ted Failon” in his program “Failon Ngayon sa DZMM” via a hit promo contest, which created awareness and excitement among Filipinos for DTT, as evidenced by long queues of people who want to win the box.

ABS-CBN has been preparing for the digital switchover since 2007, having conducted test broadcast activities for the past seven years to ensure a smooth transition to DTT. The network has conducted DTT trials in key areas all over the Philippines. The consumer test results have been highly positive, ensuring ABS-CBN’s DTT offering will provide more and better opportunities to deliver content and serve Filipino viewers.

The network is also the frontrunner in introducing world-class television innovations and delivering content to Filipino audiences. It was the first to add colors to its broadcast and pioneered cable TV through SkyCable. It has also revolutionized the viewing habits of Filipinos through video-on-demand and livestreaming sites TFC.tv and iWantv!, and ABS-CBNmobile, which allows its subscribers to watch ABS-CBN shows on their mobile devices whenever and wherever they are and has been offering original programs and content.  (www.tvseriescraze.com)
