The Winners of the 28th Awit Awards - Sarah Geronimo, Yeng Constantino, and Darren Espanto Win Big


Kapamilya stars Sarah Geronimo, Yeng Constantino, and Darren Espanto bagged the top honors in the “28th Awit Awards” held in Music Museum at San Juan City, Philippines on December 9, 2015. 
                                                                           
Geronimo won Album of the Year for “Perfectly Imperfect,” while Constantino was honored Song of the Year for “Ikaw.” 

Espanto, the runner-up of the first season of “The Voice Kids,” took home two awards namely Best Album Package and Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist. 

Meanwhile, The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) 20th anniversary theme song, “Ipagpatuloy Mo, Galing ng Filipino,” which pays tribute to the innate talents and ‘galing’ or greatness of Filipinos around the world, won in two categories namely Best Inspirational/Religious Recording and Best Song Written for Movie/TV/Stage Play.  The theme, sung by Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, was composed by Jonathan Manalo of Star Music with additional lyrics from ABS-CBN Global Head of Marketing Services Pam Castillo and Marketing Communications Creative Director Jay Santiago and musical arrangement by Gab Valenciano. 



Other winners include rock band Pupil who won Music Video of the Year, rapper Abra who won Best Rap Recording, and singer Kyla and Jungee Marcelo who won Best Rock/ Alternative Recording for their single, “Salbabida.” 

Held annually, the “Awit Awards” aims to give recognition to Filipino performing artists and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music. (ABS-CBNnews.com)
