Three-Way Battles Begin in 'The Voice PH!'

Six pairs and two trios are set to turn up the competition as teams get whittled down in another wave of the Battles Round this Saturday (August 3) and Sunday (August 4) in the country’s top-rating and Twitter-trending singing-reality show “The Voice of the Philippines.”

First up on the battle stage are two ‘gods’– RnB artist Thor Dulay and alternative rocker Sir Lord Lumibao – both coach Apl de Ap’s team members who will deliver a vocal duel of a popular RnB song.

Thor burst through as an early standout in “The Voice” as he was the first artist to trend on Twitter for his performance that made the four coaches push their buttons and turn their chairs during the Blind Auditions. Despite this, Sir Lord remains unfazed and feels even more challenged to come out of his comfort zone by stepping away from his genre. He said that he also relies on his ability to make outstanding covers of songs and his experience performing in a band.

“I wouldn’t say my preparations have been enough to outdo Thor, but I can equal him and be on his level. It would be enough for everyone to say that an underdog can rival a professional,” said Sir Lord.

Thor, on the other hand, is more comfortable with the battle song. However, he refuses to be complacent as he is sure Sir Lord will be able to pull off an amazing performance.

“Sir Lord and I have different capabilities. But it will be a great battle. People will see my best performance as I’ve prepared well enough,” declared Thor.

Will Sir Lord stretch himself enough to shine with an RnB song? Or will Thor come out supreme in his own genre?

Also facing off in competitive duets are Penelope Matanguihan, Moira dela Torre, Cara Manglapus for Team Apl; Japs Mendoza vs Diday Garcillano and Taw Muhammad vs Kimpoy Mainit for Team Lea; Angelique Alcantara vs Deb Victa vs Nicole Parada and Paolo Onesa vs the Cordovales duo for Team Bamboo; and Yuki Ito vs Kathreen Castro and Junji Arias vs Dave Lamar for Team Sarah.

Don’t miss “The Voice of the Philippines,” every Saturday, 9 PM, and every Sunday, 8:15 PM on ABS-CBN. (www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)
