Rocco Nacino Plays San Pedro Calungsod in GMA News TV Historical Docudrama!


Kapuso hunk actor Rocco Nacino gives life to the second Filipino Saint, San Pedro Calungsod in a special documentary drama in GMA News TV Channel 11! The said TV drama will be aired this Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8:40 p.m., the same day Calungsod is canonized!   

To give you a glimpse on his life, Calungsod was born in 1655 in what was then the Diocese of Cebu, which covered the islands of Panay and Mindanao, as well as the Pacific island of Guam, he worked as assistant lay catechist.

Calungsod died in a tragic way. At a young age, he was killed! Chamorro natives killed him while defending fellow missionary Diego Luis de San Vitores of the Jesuit order.


GMA News TV’s will share the life story of Calungsod through a docu-drama presentation. In this way, audience will truly understand why Calungsod is the next Filipino saint.

Moreover, the canonization is a big event for the over 80 percent Catholics in the Philippines. At least 5000 Filipinos are flying to the Vatican for Calungsod’s canonization. 

Meanwhile in the Kapamilya network, a documentary program will showed the life story of this second Pinoy saint in their "Sunday's Best."
