After 18 years, ABS-CBN will revive the hit soap opera "Mara Clara" which served as the cradle for stardom of both Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes!The drama series "Mara Clara" was the longest ran TV series in the history of Philippine television. It hit our TV screens for the length of 5 years. From 1992 to 1997, "Mara Clara" was the talk of the town!
To have a quick glance of the Philippine TV history, this TV series started as a daytime soap. But when the hit Mexiconovela "Marimar" became very famous on its primetime slot, ABS-CBN decided to move "Mara Clara" on Primetime block right after TV Patrol to pit it against Thalia's telenovela! The term 'Mari Clarimar' even got popular to pertain the battle of "Mara Clara" versus "Marimar"!
"Mara Clara" was also the one who started the so-called Primetime Bida since it was the first Pinoy teleserye which was placed on Primetime block! Hmmm...or it was "Marimar" who started the Primetime teleserye craze since it was the first TV series placed on Primetime block though it came from the foreign country?! What do you think?!But then, "Mara Clara" is really a great breakthrough! It was the reason for the great popularity of today's termed as the young superstar Ms. Judy Ann Santos. After this soap, different movie and TV series projects came to her!
Of course Ms. Gladys Reyes also rise as the great kontrabida! She was even termed as the young or the next Bella Flores because of her very convincing and effective 'kontrabida' roles in different projects!
Now who will be the next in their steps?! Who will be the new Mara and Clara?! Well, though ABS-CBN didn't yet announced who will be these new stars, everybody were really excited! This remake will come very soon on the home of teleserye, ABS-CBN! All will gonna wait for this! Exciting! C",)
