This Saturday, there will be a back-to-back treat from 2 of the new Agimat generation! As one will end, another one will begin!

Yup, "Pepeng Agimat" is about to end this Saturday while "Tonyong Bayawak" is about to start! And this will happen on the very same day! It's again a back-to-back show like the same way they did before on the ending of "Tiagong-Akyat" and the start of "Pepeng Agimat"!

Back-to-back adventure, back-to-back action, back-to-back power!!!

Jolo Revilla as "Pepeng Agimat"

Coco Martin as "Tonyong Bayawak"

It was a mixed emotion for Jolo Revilla as his series will end. According to him, he was saddened as his first starring role in ABS-CBN will end this Saturday. But then, he was happy that he has given a chance to show his skills and talents in acting and action scenes! He was also happy for Coco Martin being the next Agimat superhero after him!

For Coco Martin, he is glad that he is about to play as a superhero! According to him, during his childhood, he wished to be a hero! Now, his wish was granted. He was given a chance to play an extra-ordinary human having the characteristics of a lizard or bayawak!

Well, it's another back to back hit this Saturday! As we say goodbye to "Pepeng Agimat", let us say hello to "Tonyong Bayawak"! It's truly an exciting weekend tomorrow for this full double packed action-fantasy-adventure in "Agimat Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla" only in ABS-CBN!!! c",)
Today will be the final episode of the Quickilig edition of the Precious Heart Romances . This is the first ever team-up of Rafael Russel and Paw Diaz.

The story of "The Substitute Bride" was taken from the pocketbook romance written by Martha Cecilia.

Will the story ends up as a happy-ending or a tragic blast?!

In the last episodes, we witnessed how the ex-fiance of Brent (Rafael Russel) confronted Wilda (Paw Diaz)! Will there be a tragic gun-shooting that would happen between Candra (Carla Humphries) and Wilda? If so, whose life will be put in danger, Wilda or Brent?

As cousins Candra (Carla Humphries) and Jimmy (JM De Guzman) threaten the lives of Wilda and Brent in one of the mini-series' final scenes, the life of the two lovers were put in danger. Will the love story of Wilda and Brent finally ends up in altar? Will it be an "I Do" or an "I Die" finale?

So, let's catch it all today before "Tanging Yaman" and see if we're going to be invited in their wedding! See Yah!!! c",)
If something will end, then another thing will start...!

Yup, as "Pepeng Agimat" will set his final fight this coming Saturday, another new superhero will come!

After the two top-rating "Tiagong Akyat" and "Pepeng Agimat", here comes the third Agimat installation! Let us all welcome, "Tonyong Bayawak"!

And this will launch the indie film actor Coco Martin as Tonyong Bayawak!

After being a villain or a semi-kontrabida in the majority of his soaps, this time, Coco Martin will play as a hero having a supernatural power!

"Tonyong Bayawak" has the abilities and characteristics of the known lizard, Bayawak. With his Agimat, Tonyo (Coco Martin) will be able to got a lizard-like super power!

Of course, if you want to see how the original movie version of Ramon Revilla looks like, take a look on the third picture above! What can you say?!

Also starring in "Tonyong Bayawak" are Alessandra de Rossi, Eric Fructuoso and Jhong Hilario!

It's gonna be another exciting Saturday this week as "Tonyong Bayawak" set his first appearance on TV! Another promising new top-rater!!! c",)
This coming Saturday is the final battle of the ever top-rated fantasy series "Pepeng Agimat"!

This second installation of "Agimat: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla" topbilled by Sen. Bong Revilla's son, Jolo Revilla is a consistent top-rater both in Mega Manila and Nationwide TV rating every Saturdays. It also ran the longest! Indeed, it was a very successful TV series both for ABS-CBN and to Jolo Revilla noting that it is his first-starring role in the Kapamilya network!

In terms of the story, I like the thrill, fantasy, and action! The special effects and the cosmetic make-ups (of the aswangs) were all in the state of the modern art! Great!

For the final episode this Saturday, thrilling scenes are yet to unfold. Pepe (Jolo) realizes that he only has one choice to defeat Lucio (Ping Medina) and that is to use the ritual that his father did in order to imprison Amang Aswang in the past. But this ritual could cost him his life!

It's gonna be another breath-taking finale this Saturday in "Pepeng Agimat" ! So, let's all catch this on Saturday right after "Failon Ngayon"! I'll gonna miss this! c",)

After "Darna", here comes "Panday Kids" which is now the main rival of the hit TV series "Agua Bendita"! It really replaces the mark left by another hit inspirational series "May Bukas Pa"!

Well, I have here with you a news article from Kapamilya News Multiply Account.

The news reads:

"Kapamilya hit show AGUA BENDITA is hitting the ratings both Mega Manila and Nationwide. ABS-CBN reportedly decided to extend the show until May 2010.

Agua Bendita was a major hit because of the excellent acting of Star Circle kiddie quest finalist Xyriel Ann Manabay who is portraying the young Agua and Bendita. As Agua Bendita faces Panday Kids starring kapuso child star Buboy Villar, this will be a battle of kid starrers in a teleserye.

Because of this development Andi Eigenmann, the main star of Agua Bendita, will appear on April 2010 pa! Jacklyn Jose, mother of Andi was deeply dissappointed and Andi herself was hurt about this new development. ABS-CBN thinks Xyriel Ann Manabay is a formidable competitor to Buboy Villar of GMA's Panday Kids since the said kapuso show will start tonight. As a result, Andi's appearance on the show will be delayed.

There are news that Jacklyn Jose wants to pull out her daughter on the show. According to a source. ABS-CBN is currently fixing the situation."

It's gonna be an "FFF" this coming Friday night in GMA-7's telebabad! Yeah an FFF..."Full House Finale Friday"

Yup, the revival of the hit Koreanovela "Full House" which stars Richard Gutierrez as Justin and Heart Evangelista as Jessie is about to end this coming Friday night!

Well, what more to expect?

Now that it’s about to end, still, the question of whether or not Justin (Richard Gutierrez) and Jessie’s (Heart Evangelista) pseudo-marriage will ever become real remains.

Wedding bells are ringing but not exactly for Justin and Jessie. Using her illness as an excuse, Elaine (Isabel Oli) cornered Justin and proposed marriage to him. Jessie, on the other hand, also accepted Luigi’s (Patrick Garcia) offer.

Sensing his son’s loneliness and apprehension towards the wedding, Lorenzo (Ronaldo Valdez) tried to talk sense into Justin by offering some fatherly advice. Will Justin pack his bags and fly home to be with the girl he truly loves?

Back in the Manila, Jessie engages in a heart-to-heart talk with her bestfriend Lisette (Sheena Halili) who advised her to open up her heart to Luigi. In making such a crucial decision, which one Jessie will use: her head or her heart?

The answers will be revealed on the last few days of Full House right after "The Last Prince" on GMA-7.

Last night, GMA-7 launched their new telefantasya , "Panday Kids" which is based from the hit comic creation of Carlo J. Caparas.

In 2005, ABS-CBN 2 had already launched their "Panday" remake in the TV series which starred Jericho Rosales.

After having two "Darna" remake in TV, now the same thing happens again as two "Panday" remake were seen on TV. Yup, the first one was with Jericho Rosales in Channel 2 while today is on Channel 7 wherein the latest lead were the kids topbilled by Buboy Villar!

Hmmm...is this another duplication?

Well, if I were to ask you, are you in favor of this? Which "Panday" remake is your bet, the former portrayed by Jericho Rosales or the one we have now wherein the lead stars were kids? c",)

Monday, February 22, 2010

Tonight on GMA Telebabad, another new fantaserye will be aired! And that is "Panday Kids" which was inspired by the hit comic series of Carlo J. Caparas!

So, here is a quick synopsis of the story provided by starmometer.com:

The story of Panday Kids revolves around three ordinary kids prophesied to combat evil and preserve the Panday spirit. It begins after the end of reign of the evil Lizardo in the world. Flavio, the original Panday, was not heard of anymore after defeating his chief nemesis. Tasked to safe keep the sword are the “Eskrimadors,” an order of swordsmen known for their exceptional sword-fighting skills.

The “Eskrimadors” are headed by a teacher who trains the rest of the swordsmen in combat. The teacher chooses Aureus (JC de Vera) as his successor which caught the ire of Cicero (Polo Ravales), another eskrimador who is a descendant of Lizardo. Cicero cut ties with the eskrimadors, starts a revolt and slays the teacher. He still, however, fails to hold possession of the sword which is now under the watch of Aureus.

In another mystical world, Maria Makiling (Iza Calzado), the Queen of the Engkantos, guards the balls representing good and evil. As Cicero carries out his wicked plan, his friend Andreas (Ryan Eigenmann), who is also Maria Makiling’s brother, steals the ball of life from his sister.

Together, Andreas and Cicero intend to resurrect Lizardo (Marvin Agustin) by using the ball. Left with no choice but to counter impending chaos, Maria Makiling instructs Aureus to find new heroes worthy enough to fight Lizardo.

Aureus prepares a ritual to separate the Panday sword into three shards. The broken shards choose their rightful heirs in the person of three ordinary kids.

First to be chosen is Oliver (Buboy Villar), a mischievous but nice kid. He grew up being constantly rejected by his mother Rosanna (Gelli de Belen). Born out of rape, Oliver bears the brunt of his mother’s bitterness.

Representing the valor of the Panday Kids is Hadji (Julian Trono), a good-looking Muslim boy gifted with skills in martial arts and sword fighting. He is also quiet, unassuming and hardworking. Hadji and his sister Fatima were exposed to the conflict in Mindanao.

Embodying the wisdom of the group is Charlie (Sabrina Man), who is a beautiful but bratty kid who comes from a well-off family. Her source of happiness is the fact that she’s adopted. She wants to find out her real identity but her grandmother Dona Guada Salcedo (Marissa Delgado) prevents her from unlocking the secret of her past.

Together, the three Panday Kids set out to continue carrying the torch once carried by Flavio.

Completing the cast are Jackie Rice, Jose Manalo, Tirso Cruz III, Pen Medina, Nanette Inventor, Bernard Palanca, Isabel Granada, Rich Asuncion, Akihiro Sato, Jolina Magdangal, Ella Cruz, Nikki Samonte, Cruzita Salcedo, Yogo Singh and Migui Jimenez. Award-winning actor Christopher de Leon has a special role as the original guardian of the sword.

Directed by Tony Tuviera, Panday Kids will star Robert “Buboy” Villar, Julian Trono and Sabrina Man.

"Panday Kids" will replace the timeslot of "Darna" right after 24 Oras in GMA-7!

This is regarding the latest Pokwang mini-series starrer in Your Song Presents from starmometer.com. It reads:

Your Song presents Love Me, Love You’ soared high in the TNS nationwide ratings as it reached 17.1% on its Valentine episode last Sunday.

Viewers loved the unique team-up of Pokwang and Jason Abalos since it transcends the conventional pair of lovers. Another plus factor is the funny treatment of the story which is, of course, Pokwang’s forte.

“Nakakatuwa syempre na tanggap at na-eenjoy ng mga tao ang panunuod samin ni Jason,” Pokwang shared. “Basta panuorin pa nila at marami pa silang funny yet kakilig moments na aabangan,” she added.

In the coming episode, Lovely (Pokwang) enters school where two guys profess their love for her only to discover the guys real motive. On the other hand, Javier (Jason Abalos) slowly falls in love with Lovely’s kind heart. Plus, you wouldn’t want to miss the cameo roles of Kapamilya’s big stars in the said series: Melissa ricks, Sam Milby, Gerald Anderson and Maja Salvador. It reads:

ABS-CBN once again dominated the USTv Student’s Choice Awards for the 6th straight year by bagging 19 out of 28 awards for its outstanding and values-oriented programs and personalities.

Primetime princess Kim Chiu received her first best actress award as she was chosen the Students Choice of Actress in a Daily Soap Opera for her performance as Audrey in “Tayong Dalawa,” which also emerged victorious that night as it took home the Students Choice of Daily Local Soap Opera award.

Zaijian “Santino” Jaranilla also for his share of firsts when he was recognized not as a child actor, but as an actor for the very first time, winning the Students Choice of Actor in a Daily Soap Opera. The crowd cheered loudly as Zaijian personally accepted the award with his co-nominee Gerald Anderson carrying him.

A special citation, on other hand, was awarded to the phenomenal hit primetime series “May Bukas Pa” for effectively promoting and strengthening Catholic values to its young audience.
Meanwhile, Pop princess Sarah Geronimo proved to have the full support of her fellow Thomasians as she was recognized as the Student’s Choice of Local Music Video Performer for two consecutive years now.

Other entertainment programs who won the students’ votes include “George and Cecil” for Students Choice of Situational Comedy, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” for Drama program, “ASAP 09” for Talk Variety program, “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN)” for Entertainment News program, “The Singing Bee” for Game show, “Boys Over Flowers” for Foreign Soap Opera, “Naruto” for Full Animated program, and “Kape’t Pandasal” for Catholic program.

ABS-CBN’s subsidiary Studio 23 also contributed to the Kapamilya domination in UST as it took home its 6th consecutive win in the Public Affairs program category for “Y-Speak” hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, and its airings of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) games for the Students Choice of Sports program.

The Kapamilya spirit even grew stronger during that night when ABS-CBN brought its top-rating morning talent show “Showtime” live on stage with hosts Kim Atienza, Jugs, and Vice Ganda, and two of its finalists who performed and help simulate the “Showtime” feel on UST’s jam-packed Medicine Auditorium.

Among the other Kapamilya performers were Erik Santos, Gigger Boys’ AJ Perez, Robi Domingo, Dino Imperial, Aaron Villaflor, and Sam Concepcion, and the “The Singing Bee’s” Songbees which include Apple Chiu, OJ Mariano, Michael Cruz, and MC Castro.

The USTv Student’s Choice Awards is an award giving body spearheaded by the Office of the Secretary General of the University of Santo Tomas, which will celebrate its 400th year by 2011. Currently on its 6th year, it aims to give recognition to programs and personalities that promote Thomasian values and in harmony with the Catholic teachings.

Did this Marian Rivera's version created an impact on TV the way Angel Locsin's version did before?!

Well, looking into different parameters, in terms of rating in the Nationwide fight, it was continuously knocked-out by its rival "May Bukas Pa"! Though it got a high rating in Mega manila, many times, it was disputed by the other TV series in Primetime!

In terms of its casting, majority of the artists there who had main roles were already seen before in Angel's version. Dennis Trillo, Katrina Halili, Eddie Garcia, Caridad Sanchez, and Celia Rodriquez were some!

Even the theme song sung by Kamikaze Band were already popularized before as salute to Angel Locsin's "Darna". But now, why it was used again? Why not make a new one?!

Beside these, what other more did you observed?! I'm giving you the floor to discuss!

But then, still this Friday night in GMA's Telebabad block, let's still witnessed how this second "Darna" version be concluded on TV? Will there be a remarkable thing to be exposed? Well, let's all take part on its finale tonight!

Now which "Darna" is better to you, this current Mariann Rivera's version or the previous hit portrayed by Angel Locsin? c",)

Here is a news article regarding the continuous domination of ABS-CBN's programs against the rival shows of GMA. This is from starmometer.com and from other websites. It was also reported in TV Patrol World just this night. The news reads:

ABS-CBN has significantly widened its national lead over its closest competitor in 2009, from a 44% audience share vs competition’s 37% share in Feb 2009 to 48% vs 31% by December 2009 as seen in the TV ratings Total Homes data from global research specialist Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS).

This phenomenal growth from a seven percentage point lead to a 17 percentage point lead is attributed to the strong focus of the network with its core viewers, its commitment to production quality, improvements in TV reception, its great storytelling and huge star cast with its popular television series.

The momentum was significantly noticeable with the shift in Mega Manila audience share. ABS-CBN has cut down the lead of its competition from nine-percentage points in February (ABS-CBN 34% vs GMA 43%) down to only two percentage points in December (ABS-CBN 37% vs GMA 39%).

Metro Manila, which comprises the majority of Mega Manila, drove the Mega Manila audience shift from ABS-CBN’s 37% vs the competition’s 40% share in February to ABS-CBN leading Metro Manila with 39% against the competition’s steadily dwindling share down to 35% by year end.

Throughout the country, ABS-CBN is still the undisputed national leader with its overall 2009 performance of 45% audience share vs GMA’s 34% as it also exhibited a runaway leadership in Luzon areas outside Mega Manila with 49% audience share against competition’s 32%; in Visayas with 62% vs. 22%; and in Mindanao, where it trashed its competitor, 70% vs 15%.

Fourteen out of the Top 15 national regular programs of 2009 were produced by ABS-CBN with the competition’s best bet, taking only the 11th slot.

It’s most popular program, “May Bukas Pa” (37.2%), was a key component in uplifting the spirits of our countrymen especially during the many challenges and hardships brought about by the recession year as part of ABS-CBN’s service to the Filipino people. Strong programs like the local adaptation of “I Love Betty La Fea” (36.8%) starring Bea Alonzo as the Pinay Beatriz Pengson; the local adaptation of the Korean series “Only You” (36.3%) starring Angel Locsin, Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby; and the much talked about sibling rivalry between David and JR played by Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson in “Tayong Dalawa” (35.5%) all kept audiences happily entertained to keep spirits high.

“TV Patrol World World” is the country’s number one newscast and the only one to make it to the top 5 programs. It ranked 5th with 34.4% while the reality-drama show “Pinoy Big Brother
Double Up,” which scored its strongest season to date with an average of 32.2% in its pilot airing, and the remake of one of Ramon Revilla’s classic Agimat saga “Pepeng Agimat” with 31 % ranked 6th and 7th respectively.

“Katorse,” which told the story of innocent and naïve Nene (Erich Gonzales) who got pregnant at the early age of 14, surpassed expectations with its average rating of 30.2% as it provided an authentic and empowering experience to the young viewers.

Magazine program “Rated K” hosted by Korina Sanchez garnered an average rating of 29% while the videoke-inspired show that got the whole country singing and guessing for the missing lyrics every weekends, “The Singing Bee,” rated at 28.1%.

In terms of program acquisitions, ABS-CBN also showed supremacy as the phenomenal Korenovela “Boys Over Flowers” featuring Korean F4 Jun Pyo, Ji Hoo, Yi Jeong, and Woo Bin garnered an average of 28.5. This is the only acquired series to make it in the Top 20.

These only prove that ABS-CBN also ruled the programming landscape last year across all genres which included drama, news and current affairs, reality, fantasy, and game.

This year, the shows to watch out are the adaptation of hit telenovela “Rubi” starring Angelica Panganiban, talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent,” fantasy series “Kokey@Ako,” pocketbook-adaptation “Midnight Phantom” and “Impostor” and remake of hit youth-oriented show Gimik dubbed as “Gimik 2010.”

With the network’s recently launched shows primetime “Tanging Yaman,” “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” “Habang May Buhay,” and the most recent “Agua Bendita” performing very strongly worthy of the performance of their predecessors, ABS-CBN continues its momentum in providing best-in-class programming to the Filipino people nationwide and worldwide.
